I just came across this quote in an article I was reading about the Wheel of Wellness. Look:

Ross and Mirowski (1996) found that recognition from others in the work environment increases sense of control for men, whereas earnings have a greater effect on the psychological well-being for women.

Myers, Jane E., Sweeney, Thomas J., and Witmer, J. Melvin. "The Wheel of Wellness Counseling for Wellness: A Holistic Model for Treatment Planning". (Summer 2000). Journal of Counseling & Development, 78, p. 256. And don't bug me if I got the citation wrong, 'cause I'm excited that for once I don't have to go to the APA web site and refresh my memory on the conventions.

Isn't that interesting? It makes sense to me, although I'd not have thought of it myself.

Also, my long-delayed GIP. Go admire my icon, made by [livejournal.com profile] rymenhild. Er. Stay and admire my icon...
