So. It has come to my attention that Time Life is releasing 15 DVDs of Muppet Show episodes. At 3 episodes a DVD, this is a total of 45 episodes, including classics like Beverly Sills, Alice Cooper, Harry Belafonte, and Linda Ronstadt. (Though with you guys, I should also mention the John Cleese and Mark Hamill episodes.) It is in a clearance section, so it costs $60, plus $16 shipping and handling. Might sound like a lot of money, but then again, that's about two and a half dollars per episode.

There were 120 episodes of The Muppet Show, all told, but these 45 episodes are the only ones currently available on video or DVD.

More considerations: This is in clearance and is a time limited offer, so Time Life will probably not be offering Muppet Show episodes on DVD in the future. Disney (who, as you might recall, has recently purchased much of Jim Henson Productions) will probably be offering such things, and for all I know might be offering more episodes. [livejournal.com profile] countessofgroan points out that Disney will probably charge, shall we say, not insignificant amounts of money.

Uh, yeah. Just so's you know.

(Incidentally, I'm very happy about Prisoner of Azkaban. Yay, slashy subtext!)

Actually, I think that might have been someone else linking to her post about Harold Bloom and PoA. I blame the hour....
