What I Learned from Ellen Kushner
Nov. 7th, 2004 06:13 pm1) She dressed up for Halloween as a doomed 18th century poet. *loves*

fleurdelis28 the Lord of Misrule for the Midwinter Celebration. Dude. I very badly want to see what proclamations you come up with.
Anyway, as you might guess from that last, Ellen Kushner talked about holidays like Simkhat Torah, Purim, and Mardi Gras, where normal social interactions and rules are suspended and turned upside down.
In other words, she talked about the holiday that Trickster would be, if Trickster was turned into a holiday. (Ooooh. Must write story about that.) Though of course she didn't exactly describe it that way. I am so good at turning everything into being about my obsessions... Come to think of it, I wouldn't find it all that difficult to figure out how her talk was relevant to Narrative or Expressive Therapies, too.
That is, I'm good at turning everything into being about my obsessions except for my homework. I want to be out of school and have the time to study and read and write the things I want to write. Bah.
Oh, and there are now three more movies I need to see. I list them here so I won't forget their names. Stage Beauty, which a period drag-umentary I knew I wanted to see anyway; Osama for when I want to feel moved and depressed; and King of Masks for reasons I no longer remember.
Now off to Orson Scott Card on Israel! I expect to disagree with everything he says, out of principle.
